Jurong Lake District
Jurong Lake District is a major development project in Singapore to create the largest mixed-use business district outside the city center. Its goal is to be a sustainable model, aiming for net-zero emissions in new developments by 2045.
The district is designed as a dynamic ecosystem with a variety of uses, abundant greenery, and lively public spaces. It aims to be a neighborhood where everything is within a 10-minute walk, offering convenient city living, sustainable transportation, and an active streetscape.
The URA released a 6.5-hectare of land near near the Jurong East MRT interchange in the precinct on 22 June 2023. The goal is to create a comprehensive mixed-use area with offices, residences, and complementary spaces. These spaces will include shops, restaurants, and entertainment venues. The development is expected to have about 146,000 sqm of office space, 166,000 sqm of residential use, and additional gross floor area for complementary uses. It will be completed over the next 10 to 15 years, with the successful tenderer required to build at least 70,000 sqm of office space and 51,000 sqm of residential use as part of the first phase.
The Jurong Lake District's development is set to create 100,000 new jobs and 20,000 new houses, driving Singapore's growth as a global metropolis by 2040. This focus on development will likely increase property values, making it an attractive opportunity for real estate investment. Experts predict high demand for houses in the lake or coastal area, with ongoing infrastructure development expected.
Overall, the district's development presents a significant opportunity for property investment, with the potential for long-term value appreciation.
